Q. What is the difference between chlorine and bromine?
A. They are both sanitizers, and they can both be used in spas. Bromine is more stable in hot water than chlorine, and comes in easy to use tablets. Bromine doesn't have the same smell as chlorine.
Q. Can I use chlorine tablets in my spa?
A. No. Most spa warranties will be voided if chlorine tablets are used. Chlorine tablets are too strong for and can hurt the spa's finish.
Q. What should I keep my chlorine level at in my spa?
A. Chlorine level should be maintained between 1-3 ppm.
Q. Can I clean my filter in the dishwasher?
A. We don't recommend this. Your dishwasher can get very hot and melt the filter.
Q. Can I use chlorine and bromine together?
A. Yes, but only in the spa water. Never mix these chemicals out of the spa water.
Q. Can I use household chemicals to clean my spa?
A. Never use chemicals that are not designed for the spa. They can cause problems to the surface as well as the water balance.
Q. Do the bubbles on my spa cover go up or down?
A. The bubbles go down to maintain the heat and life of the cover.
Q. How often should I drain my spa?
A. Most spas should be drained every 2-3 months.
Q. How long does a filter last?
A. Most filter cartridges last about 18 months, if cleaned on a regular basis. We recommend you clean your filter every 6 weeks with a cleaner and degreaser.
Q. At what temperature should I keep my spa?
A. Because of health reasons, we do not recommend you keep your spa above 102 degrees F.
Q. How long do my test reagents last?
A. Test reagents have a shelf life of approximately 9 months to a year.
Q. Why is balancing my spa water important?
A. If your spa water is not balanced properly it can lead to skin irritation, as well as harm the equipment. In hot water this can sometimes happen in a short period of time.
Q. What if my spa is losing water?
A. This can mean you have a leak somewhere in your plumbing or equipment. You should call your local pool dealer and their technicians can help you detect where the leak is.
Q. How often should I shock my spa?
A. Most spas should be shocked once a week if used regularly. If not used regularly, some spas can go a little longer without shocking.
Q. What is the recommended spa temperature for children?
A. For health reasons, spas need to much cooler for children than for adults, we recommend you check with your child's doctor before allowing children in the spa.
Q. What causes eye irritation?
A. If your spa is not balanced properly, this could lead to eye and skin irritation. That is why it is essential to keep your spa water balanced.
